Hillcrest Hospital South is proud to be the first Center of Excellence in Oklahoma and 11th in the nation to bring women a significant advancement in Minimally Invasive Surgery.
One of the many Minimally Invasive procedures offered at Hillcrest Hospital South is the new single-incision laparoscopic hysterectomy. This procedure requires only one tiny incision through the belly button, rather than four incisions used for most laparoscopic procedures including robotic surgery. Women experience less pain, less recovery time, less time in the hospital and less scarring.
To become an accredited member of the American Institute of Minimally Invasive Surgery (AIMIS) physicians must provide procedural and outcome data showing they have advanced their surgical skills to the level required to become accredited. Once an accredited AIMIS surgeon and hospital has combined efforts and meets Minimally Invasive Surgery standards, the center is recognized as a Center of Excellence by AIMIS. For more information on Minimally Invasive Surgery, go to www.aimis.org.
