At the Hillcrest Hospital South Wellness and Sports Medicine Center, everyone - regardless of age or physicial condition - will feel perfectly at home because our objective is to help members achieve their long-term lifestyle and fitness goals.
The Difference
The Hillcrest Hospital South Center for Wellness and Sports Medicine is different from all the other health clubs in town for several reasons.
- The Hillcrest Hospital South Center for Wellness and Sports Medicine provides a full-service fitness facility and athletic training.
- The Center features a rock climbing wall.
- The Hillcrest Hospital South Center for Wellness and Sports Medicine is the first local facility to offer athletic training to area students (Union).
- Staff members at the Center share a universal goal of developing one-on-one, lasting relationships with members.
- The center includes a multi-specialty approach to physical therapy and athletic training, personal training, strength coaching and wellness programs.
The Center
The impressive, 11,050-square-foot facility consists of two levels. The upper level is dedicated to cardio, and is fully equipped with treadmills, stair climbers, elliptical and weight lifting machines. The lower level is a collegiate level weight-lifting area, complete with free weights and all types of equipment needed for strength training. In addition, the facility’s indoor walking concourse on the second floor is open to the public (non-members) any time the Center is open.
Perhaps the feature that truly sets this facility apart as a wellness center is the Personal Trainer Program. Each new member will be offered five, free 15-minute sessions with a personal trainer for one-on-one assistance in establishing a tailor-made fitness plan. Following this, members will have the option at any time to purchase additional sessions for $10.00 each, in order to reevaluate or modify their plan.
Located in the Union Multipurpose Activity Center (UMAC) near 71st and Mingo, the Center is managed and medically directed by Hillcrest Hospital South Hospital. Full-time athletic trainers are on staff, working closely with the Union School District and its athletic teams. The Hillcrest Hospital South Center for Wellness and Sports Medicine was funded in large part by residents of the Union School District. As a result, one of the Center’s primary goals is to provide the student body and patrons of the school district with a complete, state-of-the art sports medicine and wellness facility.
Membership
Many health clubs concentrate on increasing the number of members. At theSouthCrest Center for Wellness and Sports Medicine, we never want our members to feel like they are just a ‘number’ to us. Our goal is to focus on developing long-term relationships with our members by offering affordable membership packages, as well as affordable training and wellness programs. Due to the Center being a shared venture between Hillcrest Hospital South and theUnion School District, membership rates are typically below fees charged by most health clubs. As a result, there are specific times when designated areas of the facility are utilized by the varsity athletic teams.
